
John Engh is a graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Gore School of Business at Westminster College.
John has attained the distinguished CFP® designation. This designation indicates the following:
Education – Completed an advanced college-level course of study addressing the financial planning subject areas that CFP Board’s studies have determined as necessary for the competent and professional delivery of financial planning services. CFP Board’s financial planning subject areas include insurance planning and risk management, employee benefits planning, investment planning, income tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning;
Examination – Pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Examination. The examination, administered in 10 hours over a two-day period, includes case studies and client scenarios designed to test one’s ability to correctly diagnose financial planning issues and apply one’s knowledge of financial planning to real world circumstances;
Experience – Complete at least three years of full-time financial planning-related experience (or the equivalent, measured as 2,000 hours per year); and
Ethics – Agree to be bound by CFP Board’s Standards of Professional Conduct, a set of documents outlining the ethical and practice standards for CFP® professionals.
John cares deeply about helping individuals prepare to realize goals and objectives through sound financial decision making and investment experience. His multi-disciplinary approach to comprehensive financial planning begins through a capital needs analysis and includes: investment management, risk management and income planning. John serves his clients through designing and managing client portfolios to meet stated objectives and aide in the implementation of risk management strategies to suit client needs. Businesses count on his experience to help craft investment policy embedded in employer qualified plans.
John teaches financial and investment concepts to individuals through community education programs and independent workshops throughout Utah. He also serves as a member of the advisory board for the Salt Lake Community College of Finance.
John has been married to his wife Kellie for over 20 years and they have 4 terrific children. He has a fabulous time volunteer coaching his kids in sports, supporting his girls in gymnastics, being active in the outdoors, skiing and serving in the community.
